SANDWELL U3A MEMBERS HELPING OTHERS - August 2016 Below is a letter from Himley Manor Care home in Dudley, West Midlands, who care for the elderly including dementia patients, and this includes one of our original members Margaret. Margaret’s husband Mike visits nearly every day and he noticed that some patients do not have visitors, nor do they get supplies of personal items to make their lives and the day to day working life of the staff a little easier. This is where Sandwell U3A stepped in. When Mike asked our members if they would be willing to donate an item such as bath/shower cream, shampoo, razors and shaving cream, we were overwhelmed by their support and generosity. Several of our members took the donations to the care home and the photographs below show only a few of the items we collected. The staff at the home were thrilled and a letter of thanks is also shown below. Letter from: Himley Manor Care Home, Dudley, West Midlands.
